Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a non-psychoactive compound that is extracted from the hemp plant and contains a wide variety of health benefits. Fūse CBD products are carefully formulated to help elevate your physical and mental health, helping you live a balanced life.

Is CBD for Me?

Current research suggests that CBD can help to significantly decreasing anxiety, pain, stress, and inflammation, amongst many other conditions.

How much CBD should I take?

Everybody reacts differently, which is why it’s best to start with a lower dose of about 10 milligrams (consult with a health care provider if unsure) and determine whether or not that dose improved specific symptoms. Starting with a lower strength product and taking 10 milligrams in the evening, an hour before you go to sleep. Just make sure to stick with a CBD routine for several weeks since you may not feel its effects right away, if at all.

If there’s no perceived effect value after 3 days of use, you could increase the amount by 10 milligrams until you find what amount works best.

What's the difference between CBD and THC?

The differences between CBD and THC are many, however, the main one being that THC gives the euphoric ‘high’ when used whereas CBD does not, due to each product targeting different receptors in the body.  Although similar in the chemical compound, THC is different in the way that the molecules are arranged in the chemical formula; this targets the brain’s rewarding system which produces dopamine (pleasure chemicals) and is the main reason why your body may relax or have help to relieve painful symptoms.

What's the difference between CBD and hemp oil?

Many CBD products are made from “hemp extract oil”—and the word “extract” in there is key, because there are also products called “hemp seed oil.” Despite sounding exactly the same (confusing), hemp seed oil is actually a different thing.
Hemp seed oil, also sometimes called “hemp oil”, is derived from the seeds of the hemp plant only, no phytocannabinoids there. The oil is rich in healthy omega-3 fatty acids, so it can do wonders for your skin, but beyond that it doesn’t have the same benefits as a CBD oil. It’s important to look out for this distinction to make sure you’re getting what you’re actually looking for.

The hemp extract oils that are the basis of CBD products are made from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant, where all those beneficial phytocannabinoids live.

What is the correct dosage of CBD?

To date, the FDA have only approved one cannabis-derived product, which is called Epidiolex, and it is only available by prescription. This approval covers the treatment of seizures in people with severe types of epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.

The dosage for Epidiolex, a form of CBD oil, is as follows:

  • The starting dosage is 2.5 milligrams per kilogram of body weight (mg/kg) twice daily, making a total dosage of 5 mg/kg each day.
  • After 1 week, people may increase the dosage to 5 mg/kg twice daily, which is a total of 10 mg/kg per day.
  • All other products that contain CBD fall outside FDA regulations, so there are no official guidelines for their dosage. Some manufacturers are advertising CBD products with unproven medical claims, and the quality and safety of these products can vary.

Before using any other CBD products, a person should speak to their doctor about appropriate dosages. The dosage that a person takes will depend on the method of administration that they are using and the specific product.

What time of the day should I take CBD?

There are some considerations about the time of day & frequency of your CBD supplements to keep in mind to establish a routine that may boost the compound’s wellness effects.

Many CBD hemp oil customers have found they prefer taking their CBD supplement shortly after they wake, perhaps blended in their morning coffee or a smoothie, so as to start their day with its natural benefits. Others prefer having their CBD supplement routine in the evening at dinner or just before bed.

Can CBD be used to prevent or treat psychosis?

While THC has been linked to an increased risk for psychosis, CBD is potentially helping in relieving symptoms of psychosis.

A recent study explored the effect of CBD and placebo on treatment-naive individuals at high risk of developing psychosis and compared their brain activation via fMRI during a verbal learning task to un-medicated healthy controls.

Overall, at-risk individuals show lower levels of activation compared to health controls, but those who received CBD show significantly greater brain activation than those who received placebo.

The researchers conclude that CBD could help to partially normalize alterations to brain areas implicated in the development of psychosis.

Can CBD help with back pain?

As one of the most common reasons for doctor visits and disability, back pain is likely something you or someone you care about has had to deal with.

Several patients indicated that they now prefer cannabinoid products to traditional prescription drugs for relieving pain symptoms. This summer, a study found that 92 percent of pain patients prefer medical cannabis products to opioids. Another found that pain patients who incorporate medical cannabis into their therapeutic routine are able to reduce their traditional drug intake.
